A lesson on denying and accepting blame. A student (in fact, the haggling/hugging student) is trying to explain why she "didn't" kill my dog.

Student: So I took her out for a walk, but there was a typhoon.
Phil: Why did you do that?
Student: Because she wanted a walk.
Phil: And what happened?
Student: Lightning struck near the arse.
Phil: I'm sorry?!

2 minutes of 'really?' and 'are you sure?' later...

Student: ...the ground.
Phil: Oh! The lightning struck near the earth!
