And So It Begins

Hong Kong has gone Christmas crazy. Decorations have popped up everywhere, and there really is no escape. Best to embrace it head on. What is fascinating about the displays are that there seem to be different categories. For example:

#1 - The Traditional

#2 The Theme

Good old (huge) Hans Andersen, as he likes to be known by his friends can be seen here, dressed as Santa - how unoriginal Hans! - reading his famous stories (including The Little Mermaid, Ugly Duckling, Emperor's New Clothes...)

#3 The Random

My favourite display is in my own train station. I can't work out what this film a) has to do with Christmas, or b) why they chose a movie that came out over a year ago? Truly bizarre.

A Christmas Tyre Tree - just what every good kid wants!

Here there are hardly any decorations up anywhere yet. The villages compete with each other to produce the best decorated village each year but they don't start until the middle of the month. I think it would be a nice idea to go to the Shul now as well, go and eat some latkes and doughnuts at least (mmmm latkes) You've got a cupple now too so no excuses!

It's nice to see a Confucian/ Buddhist/ Irreligious Communist state celebrate the birth of a Jewish lad.
